The breakdown – B.A. Paris

Cass Anderson didn’t stop to help the woman in the car, and now she’s dead. Ever since, silent calls have been plaguing Cass and she’s sure someone is watching her. Consumed by guilt, she’s also starting to forget things. Whether she took her pills, what her house alarm code is – and if the knife in the kitchen really had blood on it.

My opinion

After reading ‘Behind closed doors’ I got very excited to read ‘The breakdown’ by B.A. Paris. ‘Behind closed doors’ was very thrilling and I can still remember the ending, even two months after finishing the book.

‘The breakdown’ may even be better than ‘Behind closed doors’. You experience everything together with Cass and that makes you doubt her as well. Why is she constantly forgetful and who is her stalker? You’ll slowly find out all of those things, but first, Cass goes completely mad.

Because B.A. Paris keeps you in the dark together with Cass, it makes you wanna continu reading, just because you wanna know how it all ends for Cass. That can be a bit slow at times, because Cass goes madder and madder. She drives her husband crazy as well. There are not many revelations throughout the story, but you still wanna know how it finishes.

How the story unfolds, you’ll find out at the end. The ending came as a total surprise for me, I really didn’t see that coming and that made me go back into the story. I thought it was amazing how B.A. Paris really worked her way to the ending, all the way from the start of the story. That makes it so much better and I cannot wait until her next book!

For me, the B.A. Paris books remind me of the old Nicci French books. Both are stories filled with tensions and really surprising endings. I love books like these.

Despite the fact that sometimes I thought ‘The breakdown’ was a bit slow, the ending took me by surprise and I cannot wait to read the next book by B.A. Paris
