A long-lost experiment of unknown intent. . . A hidden room in a vast seaside estate. . . An investigator marked for danger. . . On a sprawling estate on the coast of Rhode Island, at the nation’s oldest and most prestigious think tank, an unfathomable tragedy takes place. No one knows what to make of the disturbing evidence left behind. Then reports begin to surface of increasingly bizarre behavior among the organization’s distinguished scientists. Called upon to investigate these strange happenings, history professor and analyst of inexplicable phenomena Jeremy Logan comes across an ingeniously concealed room in a long-dormant wing of the mansion. What he discovers within may provide answers–and, in the process, unleash a new wave of catastrophe.

My opinion

I found ‘The forgotten room’ when I last visited my local library. I read a whole lot of thrillers and scary books in October and this one fit right in. It started off quite slow, but when Jeremy Logan finds a concealed room in the mansion, it starts to be creepy. In the beginning you think this is a paranormal story, mostly because Jeremy Logan has that kind of background, but it turns out to be something else completely.

When I saw the name Lincoln Child, I was convinced I have read one of his books before, but now I cannot remember which one it was. When I finished ‘The forgottem room’, I was quite sure that I will pick up more of his books though. I enjoyed ‘The forgotten room’ from start till finish. The story is well written and despite the fact that this is the fourth book in the series about Jeremy Logan, I never felt like I missed something important. If I did, Lincoln Child explains it throughout the story. Jeremy Logan is interesting as a character and the storyline is captivating too.

Throughout the story, you’ll investigate everything alongside Jeremy Logan and that keeps you on the edge of your seat. That the paranormal factor in the book turns out to be something completely different, makes the story even more interesting. The story is well put together and the ending well build up. If you love these kinds of stories, a bit detective-like, than this is the story for you. I look forward to reading more of Lincoln Child’s books!

Conclusion

‘The forgotten room’ is a paranormal thriller with a twist. This story by Lincoln Child is well build up, gripping and interesting. I enjoyed it from start till finish!
