It’s never been all rainbows and sunshine for Tessa and Hardin, but each new challenge they’ve faced has only made their passionate bond stronger and stronger. But when a revelation about the past shakes Hardin’s inpenetrable façade to the core and then Tessa suffers a tragedy. Will they stick together again, or be torn apart?
As the shocking truth about each of their families emerges, it’s clear the two lovers are not so different from each other. Tessa is no longer the sweet, simple, good girl she was when she met Hardin; any more than he is the cruel, moody boy she fell so hard for. Tessa understands all the troubling emotions brewing beneath Hardin’s exterior, and she knows she’s the only one who can calm him when he erupts. He needs her.
But the more layers of his past come to light, the darker he grows, and the harder he pushes Tessa and everyone else in his life away. Tessa’s not sure if she really can save him, not without sacrificing herself. She refuses to go down without a fight. But who is she fighting for: Hardin or herself?
Pfff, I really have a love/hate-relationship with the After series. I saw ‘After ever happy’, the fourth book in this series, in the library and decided to pick it up. It’s the last book and I really was curious to find out how it would end.
But whilst reading, I quickly realised why I ended up waiting so long before finishing this series. I got so annoyed with Tessa and Hardin. Tessa can’t live without Hardin, no matter what he does or says, she always goes back to him. Hardin seems to force Tessa into everything and cannot see she’s got her own opinions too.
In ‘After ever happy’ they try (again) to live without each other, but you know from the beginning it won’t work for them. Tessa decides to move to New York to get away from Hardin, but he always finds a way back to her. I got so frustrated whilst reading this book, but Anna Todd has such a style of writing that reads so well. I don’t often close a book before finishing it, apart from library books. But ‘After ever happy’ is a book that I just couldn’t put down, I had to find out how it ended for the couple, even though I knew it deep down.
But the ending was the biggest dissappointment of the book. Anna Todd jumps ahead in the future and you almost know what happens to Tessa and Hardin until they die. That is such an easy way to finish the series and I was really dissappointed.
‘After ever happy’ is the last book in the After-series by Anna Todd. Just like the previous books, it’s frustrating but you do wanna keep on reading. The ending was a major dissappointment, and you already know how it ends: happily ever after.
