Penny joins her rock-star boyfriend, Noah, on his European music tour.

Penny’s bags are packed.

When Noah invites Penny on his European music tour, she can’t wait to spend time with her rock-god-tastic boyfriend. But, between Noah’s jam-packed schedule, less-than-welcoming bandmates and threatening messages from jealous fans, Penny wonders whether she’s really cut out for life on tour. She can’t help but miss her family, her best friend Elliot . . . and her blog, Girl Online. Can Penny learn to balance life and love on the road, or will she lose everything in pursuit of the perfect summer?

My opinion

‘Girl online: On tour’ is the second book by Zoe Sugg, who is one of the most famous YouTubers. She has about 11 million (holy moly!) subscribers and amongst other things her own beauty range in the UK. When her first book came out there were a lot of rumours about a ghost writer writing her book, but Zoe has been vlogging during the process of writing the second book and explained she’s written it together with her editor Amy Alward.

I cannot remember if the writing style of the two books are different, but this book was again a nice read. You don’t have to expect important literature, but the story is well written, sometimes filled with cliches, but in the end I did enjoy this chicklit.

‘Girl online: on tour’ is often predictable, but that’s not really that bad. If you’re looking forward to a nice YA chicklit, this is the book for you. The characters are fine, but what I do find great about Zoe Sugg is that she describes panic attacks in the book. That may help her target audience accept this as something to talk about instead of to hide it.

Conclusion

‘Girl online: On tour’ is the second book by YouTuber Zoe Sugg. This book is also about Penny and her boyfriend Noah. If you’re looking for a YA/chicklit story, this is the book for you. A fine summerread.
