Fallen – Karin Slaughter

Karin-Slaughter-Fallen

Special Agent Faith Mitchell returns home to a nightmare. Her baby daughter Emma has been locked outside, and there’s a trail of blood to the front door. Without waiting for back-up, Faith enters the house. Inside a man lies dead in a pool of blood. Most worrying of all, her mother is missing.

When the Atlanta police arrive, Faith has some difficult questions to answer. But she has some desperate questions of her own. What were the killers searching for? And where is her mother? Suspended from duty, Faith turns to her work partner, Will Trent. Together he and Sara Linton must piece together the fragments of a brutal and complicated case, and catch a vicious murderer with only one thing on his mind. To keep on killing until the truth is finally revealed.

My opinion

I recently bought ‘Fallen’ by Karin Slaughter, right after writing down all the books written by her I still want. This book was only €10, so it was an easy add to my collection.

‘Fallen’ is the fifth book in the Will Trent series and the best part of this series is that you don’t have to read it in order. Of course, if you do, it’s easier, but Karin Slaughter shares enough in each book that you don’t feel like you’re missing out.

From the first pages in ‘Fallen’, you’ll be looking for answers, just like Faith. You want to know what happened to her mother and that immediately adds a whole lot of tension to the book. The tension of not knowing combined with new facts about the main characters makes you want to keep reading. The book constantly holds your attention and again the ending comes as such a surprise. I really didn’t see it coming and just sat there reading with my mouth wide open. Karin Slaughter has written another well build up story.

Conclusion

Karin Slaughter has written another gripping thriller. From the moment you start reading ‘Fallen’, you’ll have a lot of questions and the ending comes as a total surprise. What an amazing story!
