Hanging around with dead people can deliver a whole world of trouble. Take it from Charley Davidson, part-time P.I. and full-time Grim Reaper. The deceased find her very sparkly. Demons find her irresistible. And one entity in particular wants to seduce her in every way possible.
‘Second grave on the left’ by Darynda Jones is the next book in the Charley Davidson series. I loved the first book, ‘First grave on the right‘, but in this book, the characters are more developed and you get to know them more. That’s what I like in series. Charley has an unusual past and you get to know more about her past, which makes you connect with her more.
Just like ‘First grave on the right’, ‘Second grave on the left’ is filled with funny, but especially sexy scenes and Charley gets to know Reyes even better and she finds out more about their connection. Apart from that, Charley has to solve a few cases and turns out to be very attractive to dangerous people, which make her vunerable for injuries. She has to defend herself and finds out more about her family and how they feel about her being the Grim Reaper. All in all there’s more excitement but also more deep conversations with Charleys friends and family.
I especially loved the Twilight reference in the book, that made me smile, I think that’s what characterises this series. A funny and more adult version of Twilight, which I absolutely loved.
‘Second grave on the left’ by Darynda Jones is a tad better than the previous book. It’s funny, exciting and sexy and has supernatural elements which makes it stand out a bit more.
