Still grieving after the loss of her beloved husband, Lily Mortimer is determined to do something with the time she has left. After the end of her fairytale marriage, thirty-something Kate is trying hard to mend her broken heart. Chloe, a young woman with the world at her feet, is struggling to know what to do with her life. When Lily embarks on a new venture in the picturesque town of Somerley, the three women come together to open The Coffee Stop, the most charming cafe for miles around. But opening a coffee shop is never as simple as it seems, especially when you add neighbouring competition, local heart throbs and heartbreak to the mix. When tragedy strikes, can the three women pull together to make the new business fly, or will Lily’s last chance disappear down the drain along with yesterday’s coffee grinds?
From the moment you meet the Kate and Chloe, you wonder what their connection will be. At first, it took me a while to get into ‘Stirred with love’, because it felt like there were so many characters dumped on me to get to know. But once you got into the story, you’ll quickly fall in love with the characters, kinda wishing you were working in the cafe yourself!
The cafe sounds like a lovely bonding thing, but the girls do have more in common than they think. The girls learn from each other, but they also grow together. And then there’s the plan Lily has for Kate and Chloe. From the moment she mentions a plan, you’ll get curious. What’s the plan and what is up with Lily?
Trust me, the plan will have you in tears. Sad tears, that is. OMG, did I cry at the end of ‘Stirred with love’! But you’ll end up feeling like you wanna give Kate and Chloe a cuddle and you know they’ll be alright.
Marcie Steele writes like a charm, you’ll fall in love with every character (even the ones you’ll dislike at the beginning!) and you’ll shed a tear or two (or more, if you’re like me) at the end.
‘Stirred with love’ by Marcie Steele is a lovely read, especially for the fans of Jenny Colgan and Holly Martin.
