On the beautiful island of Capri, a royal princess begins a secret love affair, oblivious to the dangers that surround her. Internationally renowned novelist Kitty Pilgrim chronicles a modern thriller based in the historic volcanic region of Southern Italy. Her characters, archaeologist John Sinclair and oceanographer Cordelia Stapleton, team up once again for a tale of glamour and romance that spans every level of society-from the dangerous criminal underworld of Naples to the jet set of Europe.
Somehow, when I put ‘Summer of fire’ on my Kindle a couple of weeks ago and started reading it, I thought it was a chicklit. Boy, was I wrong. I requested it on Netgalley for the sole reason that it was set in Capri and I longed for the hot Italian… weather (you thought I was going to write men, didn’t you???).
‘Summer of fire’ did not dissappoint. Partly set in Italy but also in the UK, it’s hot. It reads like a rollercoaster, because once you’re in it, you have to go with the flow and it won’t stop. Several times I felt like the story was over and then Kitty Pilgrim adds in another storyline and you’re seated on the edge of your seat again.
Volcanoes but also the mob, some love and friendship are the combination of factors that keeps you reading. It’s hot, tense, gripping and you don’t want to let go. I really loved ‘Summer of fire’ and can’t wait to read more of Kitty Pilgrim’s books.
A very hot and tense story that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the book. If you love Italy, you’ll have to read ‘Summer of fire’.
