Love is an open door…except when it keeps slamming in your face Hopeless romantic Milly Rose has had her fair share of heartbreak. Obsessed with all things Disney, she refuses to give up on finding her Prince Charming – he’s out there somewhere, isn’t he? When Milly is given a job to investigate the origins of a historical building in the village of Clover’s Rest, she’s not sure what to expect.
What she discovers takes her breath away – a beautiful real life Cinderella castle, complete with turrets, a magnificent drawbridge AND a very handsome owner…Cameron Heartstone. As Milly and Cameron begin to unearth the secrets of Clover Castle, they can’t ignore the intense chemistry building between them. But they’ve both been hurt badly before. Can they take a big leap of faith and find their own happily-ever-after?
First off, who wouldn’t want to read a book when the summary starts with ‘Love is an open door’?! I kept singing this song over and over whilst writing this review. Ha.
Sometimes I judge books by their cover. When I saw the cover of this book, I instantly knew I would like it. It reminded me of other books I loved and when I started reading, I knew it was right.
‘Fairytale beginnings’ has not only a cover that fits the story, the title is perfect for the book, as Milly believes in fairytale and the book starts with a beautiful Disney-esque castle. The start of a fairytale?
I love books set in the UK and this book is no exception. I was swept away together with Milly, when it comes to the castle, but also to Prince Charming, Cameron. The village was quirky and that added to the story. Holly Martin writes inviting, you’ll want to keep reading and move into a castle. She describes the castle, the village people and other characters perfectly and the humor in the book had me laugh out loud a couple of times.
If you love books from Rachael Lucas and Jenny Colgan, I’m sure you’ll love this. It’s the perfect escape from reality and what better than a fairytale to do that?
